Top and prestigious University:Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay


IIT Bombay was established in the year 1958. IIT Bombay was the first to be set up with foreign assistance. A high-power committee of Government of India recommended in 1946 establishment of four higher institutes of technology to set the direction for the development  of technical education in the country. Since its establishment in Powai, the institute has physically expanded to include more than 585 buildings with a combined area.

IIT Bombay has a comprehensive graduate program offers doctoral degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. At present IIT Bombay has a total of 14 academic departments, six centers, one school, and three interdisciplinary programmes. From the past 53 years, around 39,000 engineers and scientists have graduated from this prestigious institute. Educational programmes here extends beyond the regular courses like physical sciences and engineering and extending it into humanities and social sciences such as Economics, English, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology and into management studies.

Over the years, the institute has also created a niche for its innovative short-term courses through continuing education and distance education programs. Members of the faculty of the institute have won many prestigious awards and recognitions, including the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar and Padma awards. University has established training & placement centre in each of the institutes headed by a senior faculty member. Training and placement officer is assisted by assistant training officer. They will Provide training for development of integrated personality. IIT Bombay mission is to build on the tradition of learning and scholarship, cultivate a culture of excellence, create an ambience in which new ideas and creativity flourish.
